And the maintenance may be well worth it. If you have blonde hair but are looking for some highlights or a different color range, why pay for some expensive salon treatments. Instead of risking your hair with expensive chemicals, try some inexpensive techniques to bring out the natural blonde look. Just follow these simple steps on how to get blonde hair at home.

Get Natural-looking Blonde Hair

A trip to the salon can easily make you shell out about USD 100 or more. With repeated visits for an expensive hair maintenance, it can get a bit demoralizing to even consider any hair color ideas for blondes. But there are ways to maintain blonde hair at home with many healthy ways.

Tip #1: Mix a stalk of rhubarb with 4 cups of water. On medium heat, simmer the water and rhubarb for about 20 minutes. Strain the mixture and let the rhubarb water cool down. Shampoo your hair as usual and rinse your hair with rhubarb water.

Tip #2: To bring out your natural blonde highlights, rinse your hair with chamomile tea. Boil 2 cups of water and steep one cup of dried chamomile tea in it for about 20-25 minutes. Once you get a dark burgundy color of the tea, strain the liquid, and let it cool for sometime. Follow your usual shampooing regime and rinse your hair with the chamomile tea. Make sure the tea is not completely cold. Use it when it is a bit lukewarm.

Tip #3: Along with chamomile tea, use other herbal teas to accentuate those blonde highlights of yours. The teas which have bright yellow flowers like calendula, saffron, and marigold can do the trick. Instead of steeping the tea blossoms, simmer them in boiling water for about half an hour. After you have strained the liquid, take an empty bucket and pour the herbal tea water over your hair again and again.

Tip #4: Lemon and water works wonders when you want to do a quick highlight treatment to your blonde hair. Take one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and add it in a gallon of lukewarm water. After you have shampooed your hair, rinse your hair with this mixture. Don't forget to use conditioner as lemon tends to dry the hair pretty quickly. You can also apply a leave-in conditioner afterward.

Get Natural-looking Blonde Hair for Brunettes

Brunettes can also have blonde hair if they wish. Depending on your current hair color, you may need to decide which blonde colors will suit your complexion. If you have dark brunet hair color, you can choose blonde highlights to change the appearance of your hair. While trying any blonde shade, take advice from a professional hairstylist on how to bleach hair blonde.

These were some simple tips and ideas you can try. Always try the new color on a small area of hair, as it will give you a rough idea about what it will look like. There are different brands of hair coloring in the market, so choose a well-known brand that you trust. Chlorine and salt water can cause severe reactions on colored hair, so make sure you avoid going in the water altogether, for a few days.
