One of the most common skin problems, sunburn is caused due to overexposure to the ultraviolet radiations coming from the Sun. Basically, our skin has the tendency to absorb the ultraviolet radiations emitted by the Sun. If the exposure is for a short duration, it results in tanning of the skin, but if the exposure is continuous, it tends to result in burns, most of which range from mild to severe. One part of the body which is continuously exposed to these radiations is our face. This, in turn, makes it relatively more susceptible to sunburn.

Simple Remedies for Sunburned Face

Skin problems that affect the facial skin can cause a lot of inconvenience, and sunburn on the face is no exception. It doesn't just cause pain, but it also results in other problems, including swollen eyelids, itchy skin, and skin rash. The pain associated with it can also be followed by fever. With so much of inconvenience attributed to it, sunburned face has to be subjected to treatment at the earliest. Even though there are quite a few lotions and creams which come handy for sunburned face treatment, the home remedies for the same are often preferred over the former. Given below are some of the most popular home remedies for sunburn on the face.

Aloe Vera: This is one of the most handy plant when it comes to sunburn treatment. You can either use Aloe Vera juice or crush its leaves and rub them on the affected part of the face. In case of severe sunburns, you can rub Aloe Vera juice on the sunburned areas and leave it for a day before washing it off. It is also very effective for peeling sunburn face.

Potatoes and Tomatoes: Readily available vegetables, potatoes and tomatoes are also effective in treating sunburned face. You can either cut these vegetables in slices and rub them, or make their juice and apply it, over the affected areas. You just have to keep it on the face for five minutes, and then wash it off with water.

Cold Milk: Using cold milk is yet another simple, yet effective, sunburned face remedy. The fatty acid and lactic acid present in the milk tends to work on the sunburned areas, and heal the skin. You just have to take a cloth, dip it in cold milk and use it as a cold compress on the face. Use of cream milk is an added advantage as it is richer in fat content.

Tea Bags: Tea bags are quite effective when it comes to the treatment of sunburned eyelids. You just have to soak these tea bags in cold water, drain out the excess water and place them on the eyelids. This will have a soothing effect on the affected area. You can use the same method to sooth sunburned lips as well.

Other Remedies: Other than the aforementioned remedies, you can also resort to some more simple tips to ease the problem. Massaging the face with coconut oil, rubbing cucumber slices, honey and lime juice mixture and other such simple measures are known for their ability to provide relief from sunburn.

Though sunburn remedies exist in plenty, it is any time better to this skin problem by resorting to some simple measures, like covering your face, using sunglasses or applying sunscreen, to protect yourself from the harmful radiations of the Sun. Similarly, drinking lot of water and cleansing the face with natural face wash regularly also help you in countering such skin problems. Avoiding direct exposure to the sunlight for a long duration is by far the most effective measure. Abiding by these precautionary measures will make sure that sunburns are kept at the bay, and if ever they do occur then these remedies for sunburn on face are always there.
