"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." - The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

Optimism or the law of attraction as some people called it has brought a spark on interest to the public. There are several self-help guides or life coaching books published that tackle on how to make our lives better by being optimistic. According to them, having a positive attitude will bring success, wellness, and fulfillment in our lives.

What does it Promise?

The best-selling book 'The Secret' has given various illustrations on the accounts of the lives of different people who attest that keeping a positive attitude will attract positive events in our lives. They say that the law of attraction determines the outcome of the events in our lives. It is said that the frequency that we bring out attracts the same frequency which will return to us. When we create happy thoughts and feelings, it will affect our mood and behavior. Similarly, if we convey our thoughts in manifesting our dreams and desires, we subconsciously create ways to make that happen.

Scientific Studies Agree

Research has shown that cancer patients who are optimistic live longer unlike the pessimist patients with the same age, status, and initial health condition. Moreover, a study of heart disease patients who are optimistic tend to more likely take their vitamins, eat low-fat diet, and exercise thus reducing their coronary risk. It maybe because those who are optimistic have hoped that everything will be better and they just need to follow the instructions of their doctors.

Just Think Positive

There is nothing wrong with being optimistic. There will be no harm done if you try to be more positive in your outlook in life. It may relieve us from the burden of stress from our daily lives. Besides, at the end of the day it is our choice if we want to be happy or miserable for the rest of our lives. So you decide what outlook you want to take.
