A Shadow No Longer Cast

A short poem about aging.
Once, when I was so much younger,
And time flowed gentle as a summer breeze,
I thought that I could have forever,
Laid back, I let life come to me,
And the years rolled by,
Gathered clouds in the sky,
Till darkness draped its veil around me.

And now that I am old and gray,
And the dreams I had are fading fast,
Tomorrow becomes just another day,
To reminisce upon the past,
Ah sweet illusion,
As you reach your conclusion,
I become a shadow no longer cast.
