Anger is one of the strongest of human emotions which has the potential to ruin your life and adversely affect others around you. Hence, it is imperative that you learn tips on how to control anger before it controls you.
Anger is a natural human emotion, which is actually healthy, if expressed in a proper way. Anger becomes a problem when a mild feeling of irritation transforms into a raging fury accompanied by a strong instinct to harm the other person. Anger, which begins with cursing and yelling swear words at the other person, eventually changes into a severe urge to hit or even kill the other person. Interestingly, many brutal murders were the result of the 'heat of the moment', where the murderer could not control his fury. Counting numbers till 10 also helps in getting over the feeling of rage, as your mind borrows some time to rationally analyze the situation before reacting.

Choose Your Reactions
Angry people often react by displaying the most colorful of languages. Swear words fly all over and the pitch reaches its all-time high. One must understand that this kind of reaction does no good to you, instead it earns you a very bad reputation. If you are yelling at some person, then may be you get a satisfaction of causing him/her public embarrassment, but some angry people unreasonably yell at their computers! How is this going to eliminate the cause of your fury? Hence, whenever you face a potentially explosive situation, first calm down and think how you are going to react. Choose Your Words
No matter how furious you are with the other person, never humiliate him or her by making a verbal personal attack. Words like 'you always' and 'you never' should be used only when required. This applies even while dealing with your car or computer. Saying words like 'this $%@*! machine never works' isn't going to solve your problem. Hence, always choose proper words before you are tempted to abuse someone.

Logic always defeats anger, which arises from irrational thinking. Thus, if you want to avoid the repercussions of your anger, let your logic and rational thinking take the control of the situation. Not only will you see the futility of your anger, but you may also be able to see the views of other person in a better light.

If you find your child throwing tantrums more than often, then your child probably has serious anger issues, which can only be resolved through proper anger control activities for children. Here are some tips for teaching children how to control anger.
  • Never give in to the demands of your child when he is angry.
  • Teach your child to be empathetic towards others and also engage him in anger control games.
  • Make sure your child faces the consequences, if he angrily hits other person.
  • Make them aware of the physical consequences of anger and teach them how to control their anger.
  • Reward your child when he successfully controls anger.
  • Seek professional help, if your child reacts violently very often.
