Being Beautiful - Chapter Sixteen

Chapter 16: That Stressed Feeling

I was stressed. I had to be. It felt like there were gray hair growing all throughout my hair. I sat at my computer looking at everything. I had filled in everyone that was going with me to the Web-lee's and they were supposed to have my tickets delivered on Wednesday. Lucas had accepted the ticket with no other smart alec remarks. I had gotten to him before he had bought his own ticket. I was in good luck. Eric was supposed to be arriving very early in the morning and my parents were supposed to be leaving sometime this afternoon.

I rummaged through the papers that were on my bed and reread everything that was on there. Apparently I had filled out everything on the website and I was ready to go, but I kept having the feeling that I was missing something. I ran through all the pages that were in my hand and I still couldn't find it. When I did spot it, I was upset. How many hotel rooms will you need? I slapped myself with the paper a few times on my head. How the hell could I miss this?

There were loud knocks on my door. I sighed. "Please," I said leaning back into my bed. "Don't stop yourselves from coming in." The door opened and Liz, Alexander and Ian appeared.

"We brought cookies," Liz said.

"And my cute face," Ian said. I smiled as they came in. Ian collapsed on my bed beside me and then noticed all the papers. "Woah. Is this why you haven't been out of your room all day?" He smelled the air. "And why you haven't showered?"

"Yes." I sighed. "And yes."

"What is it?" Alexander said sitting in my computer chair.

"I still have to finalize the rooms that we'll be in so that I can tell them how many rooms that I need."

"Well," Liz said sitting the plate of cookies down on my dresser. "What did you have in mind?"

"I didn't have anything in mind," I retorted looking back at the screen.

"I do," she said edging beside me which pushed me over a little. She reached over me to grab the list. "Gimme a pen." I searched through all of my papers until I emerged with a pen. She took it gladly and she made some arrangements on my paper. A few seconds later she handed the notepad back to me.

I looked on the paper and I nodded at every one of the rooms. Room 1: Liz, Briana, Alexander, Ian. Room 2: Lucas, Liam, Kaleb, Eric. Room 3: Kurt, Ariel.

"Well," I said as I handed the list to Ian who in turn handed it to Alexander. "I guess that three rooms would be just enough." I reached for my laptop and finished up everything that I was supposed to finish up. "Everything is done," I said shutting it. "Thank God."

"So what's the plan?" Ian asked as he leaned back down into my bed.

"Well. We leave on Thursday at about seven in the morning and we arrive in Virginia at like four I think? And then we leave and go to our hotel rooms or whatever and then they will call us out at like 6 so that we can all have dinner."

"You and the people who were nominated for the same award that you were nominated for?" Alexander asked looking at the list.

"Yeah. Just us and one additional guest or something."

"So take Liz," Ian said looking through the papers. "She's more social than you are."

"Everyone is more social than I am, but Liz was my first option."

"I was?" She asked smiling sympathetically.

"Well yeah," I said. "You'll keep all the attention off me." She gave me a devil look. "Well it's true. You always take the spotlight off me and I'll be happy that for once, you're doing it 'cause I want you too."

"I take that as a compliment," Liz said.

Ian smiled. "I'm staying the night on Wednesday."

"My dad won't like that," I said staring at the ceiling.

"Won't matter. He won't even be here."

"Uh," I said looking at him. "It does matter. He'll like find out and stuff. I don't wanna get in trouble."

"Who's gonna tell him?"

I sighed. "Why are you always right?"

"Well, cause I'm Ian." I felt my bottom start to vibrate. Ian reached into his back pocket, pulled out his phone and answered it. "Hello?" Silence. Then he smiled. "Oh hey." Pause. "No I'm not busy." He stood up and just walked out of the room without giving us any warning.

I sat up and looked between Liz and Alexander. "Who the hell was that?" I asked.

"You think that we have telepathy?" Liz asked standing.

"I don't know." I sighed and stood up. I stretched and smelled my armpits. "I do kind of smell bad."

"Well, while you're showering, we'll be downstairs," Alexander said as he and Liz made their way toward the door. "Telling Lucas and Liam what room they'll be in." And they exit.

I walked over toward my dresser and leaned down to pick out my outfit of the day even though the day was almost over. I heard tapping on my window. I looked over toward it and noticed that the curtains were partly open. I stood up and walked over toward them. I pulled them back and I saw Kaleb standing there smiling at me.

I kneeled and opened my window just as he did. "What is it?" I asked.

"In a bad mood already?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.

"Did you throw pencils at my window just to harass me?" I asked.

"Actually, no. I was wondering who taught you to cook 'cause I had some of your leftover pasta from yesterday."

I tried not to smile, but I couldn't help it. I looked back up at him. "Ask Alexander. I taught him how to make it the same way."

"I'll have to take you up on that." There was silence. "Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?" He asked me.

I raised an eyebrow. "Sleep maybe? I don't know. Ian was staying the night."

"Yeah, he told me that he was. He, Liam, Lucas and I were going to have a little football game. Care to be our cheerleader?"

"Not even in your dreams."

"I was kidding Briana. I didn't know that Ian was staying with you. Geesh chill out." I sighed. "Well, I have to shower so I'll just see you Thursday." I stood up and closed my window. When I looked back at Kaleb's window, he had already walked away. I just sighed and closed the curtains.

For some odd reason when he asked me what I was doing tomorrow, I thought that he was going to ask me out. I let out a long sigh before I shook the thought of dating Kaleb out of my mind once more.

I shuffled downstairs after I had showered. My wet hair bobbed down my back as I came to the stair landing. I stopped when I heard voices. I looked over the ledge and saw Liam and Ian having a conversation. I bent down as to not be seen, but to hear.

"Yeah," Ian said. "I let my feelings get the best of me."

"Happens to the best of us," Liam said. Ian bobbed his head. Liam leaned back and sighed. "I know that we've always had our differences Ian and I apologize." He looked up. "We are just alike. We go around hurting Briana and we're supposed to be the good guys." Ian looked down. "And she puts up with us. I mean..."

"I know where you're getting at. We've been selfish towards her mostly. We don't think about her feelings when something bad happens between us."

"Exactly," Liam said sitting up. "I mean..." He chuckled. "We don't understand the way a girl's mind works." He looked at Ian. "I'm sorry for being such a dick to you."

"Good." Liam looked at Ian and Ian smiled. "I'm sorry too. I just don't really understand a lot about you."

Liam stood up and so did Ian. Liam put his hand out. "Let's start over man." And they shook hands.

I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear.
