Being Beautiful - Chapter Thirty

Briana is a 16-year-old girl who hosts a web show. She doesn't know her life without it and just gives great advice on how to love yourself and no one else.
Chapter 30: Christmas Gifts

"So whose idea was this?" My dad asked as we all sat around the dinner table eating.

"Do you really have to ask?" Liam said as he threw his glance over at Liz.

"Well, I couldn't have done it all without everyone else's help," Liz said smiling as she shoved a piece of roast in her mouth. "Mainly Briana's."
My face grew hot. We weren't on speaking terms, but I knew that she did that on purpose to shift the conversation in my direction. "Well, it wasn't easy cutting up carrots and potatoes, but I pulled through."

Ariel and Kurt laughed. "Well, you all did such a spectacular job. We do have a great group of kids," Ariel said.

"Define great," Lucas said raising his eyebrows.

"Something you're not," Liz said.

"Aw c'mon Lizzy pooh," Lucas shot back, "you couldn't have done this day without me."

"I probably could have pulled it off."

Everyone laughed at their ongoing gist of argument. After about 15 more minutes of eating dinner, we all shifted into the living room for the gift giving portion of this Christmas.

I sat on the arm of the chair that my dad sat in. Everyone else dispersed around the room and made themselves comfortable in the seat that they sat in.

"We did Secret Santa this year..." Liz started. "Again. I mean, it was pretty fun to actually have like 10 minutes to go shop before you all got back here." I laughed and rolled my eyes. "But whatever." She reached under the Christmas tree and pulled out a box. "This is for Liam."

She threw the box and Liam caught it. He opened the little tag on the side to read who it was from. "From the guy you hated and now the guy you kind of tolerate." Liam shot Ian a look. I tried to hold in my laughter, but there was no way and once it was out, everyone else began laughing as well. "Okay." Liam opened the box and the first thing on top of it was 'build-a-bear'. We all laughed even harder. Liam took out the bear and threw at Ian who was keeled over and laughing his butt off.

"Wait," Ian said. "There's more." Liam looked back in the box and frowned as he pulled out the cow suit onesie. We all died of laughter. "Merry Christmas Liam."

The circle went around in laughter and hysterics with Ian getting socks and a thong from Lucas, Alexander getting a box full of candy from Eric, Liam getting Eric a couple of playboy magazines (which my mom scolded before laughing), Kaleb buying Liz every single last season of Gossip Girl (which she proudly took and almost cried), Liz buying Kaleb a pair of fuzzy slippers and some cute little princess socks, and with Lucas jumping on me in hysterics because he was so in love with his jeans and t-shirt.

"And the last one is for Briana. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out who it's from."

I smiled at Alexander as Liz handed me a small little bag. I pulled out the excess paper and there was a little box. I grabbed the box and opened it. Inside was a little necklace and the pendant on the necklace was a little computer.

"Aw," I said. I stood up and walked over to Alexander, sitting on his lap I hugged him. "It's the best gift I've gotten in a while."

Everything seemed to be going great. The adults stayed in the living room for some wine drinking. Everyone else seemingly did things to make the day last longer. Eric, Liz and Alexander went to go see the Christmas lights that were held up all over town. Ian had to leave to go see his parents for the remainder of the Christmas time. The rest of us tidied up the house a bit and we all decided to go as well.

I stood in my room fixing my hair when there was a tap at my door. "It's open," I said with a mouth full of bobby pins. The door opened and Kaleb slid in quite smoothly and shut the door behind him. My breathing picked up a little. I hadn't been alone with Kaleb all day so it kind of came as a shock that he even wanted to spend time with me today.

"How do you feel?" He asked as he slowly walked toward me.

"What are feelings?" I muttered under my breath. He came and stood behind me. "I didn't think anyone felt those anymore."

"You'd be surprised." He turned me around to look at him. "What were you and Liz arguing about earlier?"

"What made you think that we were arguing?"

"Because the redness in your face and the way you threw that apron in her face said it all." I sighed and looked down. "Are you gonna tell me?"

"No, because as much as it pisses me off, it'll piss you off too."

He released his hands from around me and then looked at me, hard and stern. "Are you breaking up with me?"

"No," I said. "Of course not. I'd..." I let the sentence trail.

"Then what is it? I told you that you could tell me anything. Briana, I don't mind."

I sighed. "Not today okay?" I looked at him. "Today has been a long hard day. I just don't want to talk about it tonight."

He rubbed his hands up and down my shoulders and then nodded. "Alright." He leaned down to kiss me and I fell into it. I hadn't kissed him all day and it felt like pure bliss just to be able to kiss him. "If we keep doing this," he said in between kisses. "We might not make it to the Christmas lights."

"You're right." I leaned back. "Let's go."

As we walked downstairs, I realized something. It had been amazing to be able to kiss Kaleb, but the thought crossed my mind that Ian slightly kissed better and I hate the fact that I think that.

Just a Note

This is a filler chapter so you guys shouldn't think that I gave up, okay? I've been busy, but I'm trying to make a day where I just take the time out to write and not do anything else. Don't be mad.

Comment Replies

Denna - I LOVE YOU. Thank you so much!
FJ - Lol. "Anyway bye." Don't you think that line was kind of rude? But thanks for you comment.
Ridz Arsh - Ahh. Thank you so much! I wanted it to be something that everyone could relate to, and not the drama that we see on TV, y'know?
Bennie Kane - Well, not to be rude, but I do have a life, I just joke about not having one. It's called "sarcasm." Have you ever heard of it? I think not, because if you did then you wouldn't be posting stupid things like this on my story. Have a nice day though!
BbLover - You think my story is getting much better? Thank you so much! I love you as well! Muahhhhh.
Alice X - Thank you so much!
Suja V - Twists and Turns are good, right? I love doing stuff for my parents because they get so extremely excited and so I just wanted the people in my story to do something nice for their parents.
Maureen - Haha, I know! It's just hard to get back into the gist of writing this. It's been so long, but thanks. I love you as well! Idk. Ian is kind of weird. I'm still trying to figure out who he is.
