Clicking Echo

My mother is dying of cancer, we are all being very brave and trying to make it easier on her. We've done this before. But we want to howl and batter at the walls of time.
Tick. . . . .
Clicking echo
Reminding me
Of what I don't want to know.

Tick. . . . .
Fevered body
Eating itself
Veins beneath the skin knotty

Tick. . . . .
Flesh that
Gave flesh to me
Brewing death in a vat

Tick. . . . .
Happy smiles
Saying it's "OK"
Inches a million miles

Tick. . . . . .
Luster turned gray
the ferry man
we still have to pay

Tick. . . . . .
Pennies on Moms eyes
Family in my arms
And me telling loving lies.

Tick. . . . . . .
Clicking echo
In an empty house
I don't want to know.

Tick. . . . ..
She's gone . . . .
Honestly I don't care about opinions on this one, but habit makes me ask, 10 is best
