How to Make Tie Dye Patterns

Spray Bottle Tie-Dye Shirt
You will require fabric spray bottle paint, T-shirt, hanger, letter and number stickers, and spray bottles for this easy tie dye pattern.

To start with, lay the T-shirt on a flat surface and place the stickers where you would like to have your T-shirt quote. Press stickers firmly so that they stick. Hang this T-shirt outside. Meanwhile, add 1 part of each color paint with 18 parts of water, use different bottles for different colors. Shake the bottle well so that paint and water get diluted. Now stand away from the T-shirt, about 4 feet away and spray the paint over the T-shirt. You might need to change the nozzle of the bottle to get concentrated paint. To make your T-shirt more interesting, spray a lot of color around the T-shirt quote and less on the other areas. Let the T-shirt dry completely then dry it a hot dryer for about 10 minutes, your funky T-shirt is ready!

Scrunch Pattern
The things you will need for this pattern are magenta, bright blue, and aqua marine paints, a cotton T-shirt (pre-washed), soda ash, kite string, 3 squirt bottles, measuring cups and spoons, rubber gloves, paper towels, plastic bags and dust mask.

Gather all these things and then spread a plastic sheet over the table that you are going to work on. Take 1 gallon of water and dissolve 1 cup soda ash in it. Soak the T-shirt in it for at least 20 minutes. Save the soda ash solution as it can be reused, even after a month. Wring the T-shirt, then place it on the table, face up. Pinch a ½ inch fold, starting from the center of the T-shirt. Continue the process until the entire shirt is converted into a small fold. Now slide the kite string below the T-shirt and tie it across the center, just like you do for tying a packet. Leave a small piece of string for tying. Turn the T-shirt and tie across the center, turn again, tie at the back. Continue tying the shirt, now a bundle, from the top, 1 inch away from the previous bundle.

Now we will start the dyeing process. Take all the safety precautions by wearing a mask, switching off the AC or fan. Also wear rubber gloves. Mix 2 tsp of dye to 1 cup of water pour it in a squirt bottle. Spray the paint over the entire shirt in random fashion, on both sides. Transfer the bundle to a zip-lock bag and let rest for about 1 or 2 days, store it in a warm place. After the required time, wash the shirt in cool water then cut off the strings and wash further. When the water is completely clear, stop washing and transfer it to a washing machine and rinse it in liquid detergent. Hang it to dry. Once it has completely dried, you can wear it anytime you want.
