Fallen for You at Midnight - Prologue

Late one night Almira Rosa takes a shortcut through the cemetery a few blocks from her house, an encounter with something so shocking is about to send her life in a whirlwind of mystery... Will she be able to protect the secret or will it swallow her whole forever?
It was a cold night. The clouds blanketed the darkened sky. The stars dazzled like faraway fires a blaze. Almira was late, okay late was an understatement she had never meant to stay long at the party, she just wanted to fit in but then the time had rolled by like a tsunami. Her parents were definitely going to be pissed off.

Almira fast approached the tall rusty gates of the cairn cemetery. The moon shone like a pearl diamond overhead lighting the gloom of the cemetery. She hugged her arms across her chest and began trudging into the unknown.

The gravestones stood proud holding the significance of someone who once roamed the earth. A cool breeze swept over Almira's shoulders. She began pacing faster her legs throbbing with effort. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all, the breeze continued to follow her.

Almira's heart began to pound away like a boxer beating a punchbag. Her feet stopped frozen to the earth. The quietness was replaced by the fast beats of her heart hammering away in her chest.
