Fated ~ Chapter 16

Short chapter, sorry.
"So, where are we going?" I asked shyly.
"Somewhere to make you remember this trip." Alvin answered mysteriously.

We got off the bus and arrived at the streets lined with small cafes and shops. Almost all the buildings had an antique color-paint on them. I looked around and I felt like I was in the Renaissance where arts were everywhere. Alvin took me to places that I would never forget, like the art museums, fancy jewelry stores and so much more! We passed by an area where there were artists' drawing. Some were doing portraits of tourists, others were just drawing scenery.

"Do you want a portrait of yourself?" Alvin asked me. I looked at all the people sitting on the chair in front of artists. I smiled and nodded. We found an artist with the best works and we decided to let him draw my portrait.

I sat up straight with a smile on my face. I slightly tilted my head. As the artist drew me, Alvin stood behind him and constantly looked back from the portrait and me. Whenever he looked at me, I felt my cheeks heat up a little. After half of an hour, my portrait was finally done. I was astonished when I saw it. It looked exactly like me! It seemed so real. I insisted paying for the portrait, but Alvin wouldn't let me. His stubbornness finally defeated me. I thanked him and the artist. I held the portrait in my arms and smiled from inside out.

Around noon, we went to an old-fashioned restaurant for our mid-day repast. The food was excellent and I could barely walk out of the restaurant after the meal.

When we got back to the hotel, it was eight o'clock. We stopped walking when we were in front of my room.

"Thanks for the wonderful day, Alvin." I told him.

"No problem," he said, "Oh, I should give this back to you." Alvin continued and handed the framed portrait to me.

"Thank you." I said and held the portrait tightly. Then, a short awkward silence followed.

"Well, I'll let you rest now. We still have to catch the flight tomorrow afternoon." He said as he started to back up.

"Wait, Alvin, I have something to tell you." I mustered my courage. He moved closer to me with a slight confusion on his countenance. I carefully put my portrait down by the wall and said, "I have been wanting to tell you this for a while. I never got the chance to and I was so chickened out. But, I want to tell you that I..." before I could finish my sentence, Alvin suddenly wrapped his arms around me.

I froze.

What was I supposed to do? When I was about to hug him back, Alvin spoke.

"You don't need to thank me again. Remember that I'll always be there for you when you're troubled, ok?"

"No, Alvin, that's not what I wanted to tell you." I broke away from his hug and said, "Then what is it?" He asked. Shoot, I lost my courage. Then, I heard a female voice.

"Alvin, darling." We both turned around and saw Georgie standing there, not far away with a ponytail. I rolled my eyes. What a great way to ruin the moment.

"Yes?" Alvin replied politely.
"I need to speak with you, darling." Georgie walked closer to us. Alvin walked toward her. I grabbed his sleeve, and shook my head.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." He pulled my hand off and walked away, left me there to wonder what Georgie was going to do now.

I could only go back to my room and began to pack for tomorrow's departure. I looked around the hotel room. Wow, there was a lot of packing to do.
