Fly Away - Chapter 22

I hope you like it and I know my chapters are short, but I'm trying to make them a bit less short. Let me know what you think about it.
*It's Monday, at Lunch*

Tom's POV

I was having lunch at the canteen when suddenly I saw them coming, Liz and David. They were laughing and I even saw them holding hands. What was I supposed to do now? I need her and not just as a friend.

I was thinking about her and what to do about all of this when they sat by my side.
"Hi," said Liz.
"What's up?" Said David.
"Oh hey you two," I said. "You're like together now?"
"Yes, man," said David.

Liz just couldn't help but smile all the time and it was bugging me seeing her so happy with him. I know he's my friend, but still... And I shouldn't do anything about it, because David and I are friends but I have to.

And I think I already know what I'm gonna do....

Katie's POV

I hadn't told anything to Liz yet, but I moved out of my mom's house. I was sick of her.
But now I need a place to stay. I think, I could ask Liz, I don't know if she's gonna like the idea though... I have to give it a shot and see what happens!

After Lunch, I looked for her and I found her near her locker.
"Hi Liz, I've been looking for you," I smiled.
"Why?" She smiled back.
"It's kind of a long story but I'll make it short. Well my mom hits me all the time and since I was sick of it, I kinda ran away, but I told her I was doing it!"
"Yes, and now I need some place to stay."
"Hm, well..." she was thinking about it, "what if you stayed at my place until we figure out what to do?"
I hugged her right away, "Oh my god thank you, thank you, thank you! I owe you big time," I said smiling.

Liz's POV

Today I told David, I didn't need a ride, Katie and I would walk home. We were almost there when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket.

"Tom's calling me," I told Katie.
"Then answer it," she said, which I did.

"Hi Tom."
"Liz, hi! Hm I need to talk to you. Can we meet somewhere? Now?"
"I guess so, let me just ask Katie."

I told her what he said and Katie said it was fine, so I put my phone in my ear again.
"So I can meet you right now, where do you want to meet?"
"I can pick you up, where are you?" He asked.
"At home."
"Ok then. See you in a minute," and he hang up before I could say goodbye.

"Well that was weird," I said.
"Yeah, why would he wanna talk to you anyway?" Katie asked.
"I have no idea, but I'll find out in some minutes."

Tom's POV

Liz got in the car and looked at me.
"So what did you wanna tell me?" She asked.
"Hm, can we first go somewhere?"
"Yeah sure, but I have to be home in an hour," she said and I laughed.
"What?" She looked at me concerned.
"Nothing," I smiled.

I took her to the nearest river. It was 5 pm and it was sunny.

"Liz I need to tell you something very important and you have to be honest with me, tell me what you feel about it," I began.

I looked at her just one more time before telling her the truth.

"Liz, I'm in love with you. I really am! You're the nicest and prettiest person ever, and you're really special. I didn't have the courage to tell you how I felt, but then I saw you with David and I knew, I was going to lose you, so I might as well tell you the truth."

"Tom..." she started but I cut her off by leaning in and kissing her. It was a soft kiss which she deepened! Her hands were in my hair and one of my hands was in her back and the other in her cheek.

We stayed like this for what it felt like an eternity, one worth living but it ended too soon.

"Tom, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be," I said running my fingers through her jawline.
"This was a mistake and it shouldn't have happened! I don't see you that way, I just like you as a friend. And if you want, we can be friends like nothing ever happened today."
"No, I can't pretend nothing happened here! Liz, I love you, I want to be with you."
"But I don't feel the same way, I'm sorry. And this kiss was a mistake, I don't know what I was thinking," she said.
