The changing lifestyle of women has led them to deal with a lot of problems. One of the major health issue is infertility, especially in women over 30. There are a number of factors that contribute to this kind of infertility, the most important being the age of the woman. The causes and reasons of infertility are mentioned below along with some of the treatment options that can be opted for.

A woman is born with over millions of eggs and her fertility begins to decline as she ages, even though the ovulation cycle continues until menopause. The number of eggs start to decrease with the increasing age and they may also start developing certain defects which may result in her being infertile. Age, therefore, is one of the main reasons for infertility.

Hormonal Imbalance
Hormonal changes take place throughout the life of a woman and sometimes she may also suffer from a hormonal imbalance at a young age. This hormonal imbalance may cause difficulty when she tries to conceive, that is, it may cause a type of infertility.

Leading an unhealthy lifestyle like excessive consumption of alcohol, junk food, lack of sleep and rest, smoking, etc. can cause infertility problems in women over 30. The hormonal and physical changes that occur due to these lifestyle changes contribute largely to this issue.

Reproductive System Disorders
Women can suffer from many reproductive system disorders like ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, miscarriages, irregular menstruation, pelvic inflammatory disease, luteal phase defect, etc. These disorders are known to increase the risks of developing infertility, if not treated on time.

Other Disorders
Diseases like hypothyroid, hypertension, sexually transmitted diseases, etc. can cause infertility in women too. Other causes include decrease in the fluidity of vaginal secretions, obesity, thinning of the uterus lining, delayed pregnancies and abortions.

The symptoms of infertility include difficulty or inability to conceive, irregular or heavy menstruation, excessive acne and excessive facial hair. The symptoms may also vary depending upon the cause of infertility.

As per statistics, over 6,000,000 women in the United States alone are infertile or face infertility problems every year. As mentioned before, there are a number of methods that can be used to treat infertility in women over 30, depending upon the severity of the problem. Mentioned below are some of the infertility treatment options.

Medical therapies and medicines are useful in case of infertility that is minor and is caused due to ovulation problems and disorders like polycystic ovary syndrome and fibroids. These include medicines to regularize menstruation and ovulation and ones that eliminate fibroids and cysts.

Lifestyle Changes
Bringing about lifestyle changes like eating healthy, exercising and refraining from smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol is extremely essential in successfully treating infertility.

Reproductive surgery can be an effective solution for women who are having fertility problems due to endometriosis or fallopian tubes blockage.

Fertility Treatment Procedures
Treatment procedures like In Vitro Fertilization, Embryo Donation and Artificial Insemination also help women who have severe fertility problems and are over the age of 30.

While there are a number of methods that can be used to treat this problem, avoiding it would be the best course of action. It will be wiser to stick to the natural biological process of the human body and plan pregnancies accordingly, than try to go against it.
