New Year's Resolutions annoy me;
It doesn’t have to be January 1st,
For someone to change their life,
It could be October 11th,
Or July 31st.
I started to make changes months ago,
So, I guess some things I’m still working on,
Would be my New Year's Resolutions.
I’ve been trying to be healthier,
Inside and out,
Cycling and running have become my new best friends;
They make me smile,
They make me cry,
They put me through hell,
But, in the end, I still love them.
I’ve learned your body is like a car;
It can’t run properly if you just throw anything in the tank,
It needs fuel,
Just like your body can’t run properly,
On greasy fries and processed chicken nuggets,
It requires the fuels of fruits, veggies, and healthy fats.
This is all pretty much one big "resolution" to me;
To be as happy as I possibly can,
Because what’s the point in making changes,
If the results don’t make you happy?
And to wrap this whole thing up,
I want to write a novel to inspire people,
To do only what makes them happy,
And to not just do what will make others happy.
And if they aren’t happy,
They need to cut the self-pity,
Get up off their ass,
And change what they don’t like.
