From that night on, everything changed. My name spread like wildfire. It began the day after, a few fans of CHET recognizing me on the street. I couldn’t walk two feet without someone asking for an autograph or a picture with me. I would smile and lean in to the large group of girls, wrapping my arms around random strangers while the flash snapped, burning my eyes.
Then people began realizing where I worked. A line of fans went out the door, just so they could buy a drink and sit to stare at me in disbelief that they were in the same room as Elliot of CHET’s girlfriend.
"Hello?" I called into the flat with five iced coffees in a cardboard holder, filling my arms.
"In here!" I hear Henry call. I follow the voice to the television room where Timothy and Henry were playing each other on the gaming system, Charlie was reading a book, and Elliot had his back to me, flipping through photographs, sorting them on the table in front of him.
He turned and smiled at me, so I leaned down to quick kiss him.
"I brought iced coffee," I smile, setting them down on the table. The boys lunged for them, thanking me for the rush of caffeine. I sat on the arm of Elliot’s chair as he wrapped an arm around my waist. "What’cha doing?"
"I’m sorting the photos by location: park, train station, and ally way," he pointed to each pile. I picked up the first pile, flipping through them, seeing his talent shine through.
"You’re so good at this," I smile at the glossy cards. "I’m jealous." I hand them back to him.
"Well, if it’s any cancellation, I wish I wrote better. I’m horrible at writing songs." He shakes his head, making me laugh.
"No," Henry’s eyes don’t stray from the screen as he violently pounds at the controller. "He really does suck."
"See," Elliot pointed at him.
"I don’t believe it. Everyone can write if they have inspiration." I shrug causing him to smile at me.
"Boys?!" We hear Daniel at the door.
"In here!" Henry calls again. When he enters, he looks slightly taken back.
"There’s an interview. Multiple actually." Daniel says more to himself, as if he was trying to understand why. The boys pause their game and Charlie puts down his book,
"Where and with whom?"
"Not for you guys," Daniel confuses us. The boys exchange glances. "For her." He points to me.
"Me?" I ask in disbelief.
"Yes, you," he moves to the center of the room in a pacing manor.
"Why her?" Timothy questions. Daniel thinks for a second before it clicks finally.
"Because she’s with him," he looks at Elliot.
"Well obviously they're together, but why is it a big deal?" Charlie tried for specifics.
Daniel frantically grabbed the remote, flipping through past recorded shows, finally landing on an old "Good Morning London" episode. Fast forwarding, he gets about fifteen minutes into the interview before playing.
"So, Elliot," the middle aged male host turns to Elliot, "Do you think you’ll ever fall in love?"
"You know, Ron," Elliot finally replies after thinking for a second. "My mates have all been in love before but I haven’t. I’m in no rush and honestly, I don’t think I’m going to fall in love, I’m more of a lone wolf," he chuckled with the other guys.
"But," Ron raised his eyebrows, "What if there was a girl that caught your eye."
"I don’t see that happening. But, if in the rare chance, I do find a girl like that, I hope she feels the same way back. Like I said, I don’t think that’s going to happen," Elliot smiled, freezing on screen as Daniel pressed pause.
"You see now?!"
"Thank you Daniel that’s embarrassing," Elliot rolls his eyes, sighing.
"Elliot is the undate-able of all you. Hate to say it, but it’s true. They want to see the girl that has caught his attention. The girl that he is crazy about. The girl that feels the same way back." Daniel explains. I blush at the thought of all this, but it makes sense. The press is going to have a field day with me. "So, will you do it?"
"No," Elliot cuts him out. "I let her do the Hillary show because you said it would clean up the "mess I made", but now this is your mess, I’m not going to have her all over the television, papers, magazines, and web-"
"No, I’ll do it." I nod, confidently.
"You will?" Daniel excitedly looks at me.
"Elliot, you can’t lock me away in a room." I stand from the arm of his chair. "They're going to follow me till they get what they want. You don’t need to protect me, I’ll be fine. It’s a part of being with you, I guess," I tell them simply.
"Taylor, you don’t have to do this," Elliot shakes his head.
"No, I want to. They will leave me alone sooner or later. I can handle it, Elliot. You have to trust me when I say that." I say. He stands up, kissing me.
"Why do you guys do so much PDA around us," Henry makes a face like he was about to vomit, making us all laugh.
"Tracy, if you wouldn’t mind-" Daniel started but I cut him off.
"Daniel, if you're going to be helping me with this, you WILL learn my name. It’s TAYLOR. T-A-Y-L-O-R." I spell out.
"Taylor," he corrects himself. "If you come with me, we can start scheduling your interviews."
So, we planned out which interviews I would be accepting and when I would do them, blah blah. The one thing I was worried about was school. With all this extra girlfriend stuff on the side, when was I going to do homework and work at the cafe and have time for friends? I knew it was all worth it. This was a path, I was willing to take for Elliot, even though I knew it was hard for him to accept.
Hey you guys, sorry. It’s a little hard to write at this time cause of exams coming up. But, I’m trying.
