Peace At A Funeral

About my friend’s death. But this poem isn't true.
He had to go so fast
not even a chance to stop himself
He's dead
no one could help him

Now at his funeral I see him
it's open casket
His pale face looks up at me
I want to cry

Then as soon as sadness left
I felt a wave of peace fall over me
As the last tear left my eye
a slow smile crept across my tired face

My shaky hand creeps across the box
wanting for the heart to beat
But knowing he is now
in a better place
