Chapter Ten: Jacob's Brother

"Come on, admit it, you enjoyed that kiss," Jacob said smirking at me.
"No, I didn't, I actually hated that kiss." I said glaring at him over Faith's head.
He smiled, "You didn't mind when you kissed back, put your arms around my neck and you seemed to like my hair." He said and did his cute little smirk again.

I blushed, "I didn't do that." I retorted but I could still feel my lips tingling from the kiss. I turned around to walk inside but then Jacob followed me, "Why are you following me, Mr. 'Bad Boy'?" I asked, looking back at him as I continued into the house.
"I thought we had a History project to complete, on the Romans I believe." He said with a thoughtful expression.

Dang it, he was right, "Oh yeah. Let me put Faith down for a nap and then we can get to work." I said but hating myself for it. I hurried to Faith's room and put him down in his little crib, "Ok you're gonna take a nap, if you wake up then start crying, I'll definitely hear you then." I said to Faith even though he probably couldn't understand a thing I was saying. I kissed his forehead and left the room.
"Done already? I'd say you were in a rush to spend time with me on our study date," he said grinning.
"It is not a study date, it is simply a project!" I exclaimed throwing my hands up in the air.
"Sure, I guess you could call it that." He said shrugging.

I sighed and then took him to the living room where we began to start on the project. I was actually surprised that we were working together so well, "Almost done, all we have to do is glue these on the poster and we are done." I said pointing to some of the pictures we had.

"Ok cool, um, can I take a shower here?" Jacob asked me. I gave him a funny look, "What? A man can't have a shower anymore?" He asked, rolling his eyes.
"First of all I wouldn't call yourself a man, sweetie and second you live right next door, why don't you go shower there?" I asked him curiously.
"Yeah, well I kinda locked myself out." He said while blushing a little.
I laughed, "Ok sure, I guess but you got 5 minutes, use whatever stuff Pride has in there. Oh and it's down the hall on your right." I said and started placing the pictures down on the posters.
"Ok thanks." He said and headed off.

My cell phone beeped, meaning I just received a text message, "Oh joy." I muttered and opened up the text. It was from Courtney and guess what it said? "Back off freak, he's mine." I read aloud, rolled my eyes and continued with my work while humming softly. After a couple of minutes I felt someone's cheek brush against mine and I whirled around.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" Jacob asked and there was a hint of mockery in his voice.
I rolled my eyes before realizing something, "Y-you haven't got a shirt on." I stammered and stared at his chest; let's just say that he had muscles. I stared at his bare chest for what seemed like years but it was really only a couple of seconds.
"Yeah, my shirt probably stinks but I'll go grab it." He said shrugging and his muscles flexed a little.
"Uhm, yeah you should go grab that." I said quickly while blushing, and hoping that he hadn't noticed me staring.

He left the room for a moment before popping his head back around the corner, "Oh yeah, I saw you checking me out, see anything you like?" He asked, winking at me.
I felt my cheeks burn and I looked back down at my work, "Not particularly, no." I said trying to sound casual about it.
"Hmm, sure Justice." He said but I could tell he wasn't buying it.
"You took 5 minutes seriously, didn't you?" I asked throwing him a grin as he came back into the room.

"I didn't want offend you again." He said leaning against the doorframe in his tight t-shirt that showed off all the muscles in his chest. He kind of looked like one of those typical bad boys from a movie, his blond hair was wet and stuck out in some places but he still looks cute. "Are you going to stand there and stare at my hotness or are we going to hang out in the backyard for a while?"

I snapped out of my daydream and blushed, "Sorry, um, sure we can go in the backyard." I grabbed the book I was reading currently, it was called 'Pride and Prejudice' before opening the door to the back. I went and sat under the big peach tree we had growing, I liked sitting there because of the sweet smell that it gave off. Jacob came and lay with his head in my lap, for once I actually didn't mind.

"Pride and Prejudice." He read aloud, "Drama, drama, and drama." He added sarcastically.
I hit him lightly on the stomach with the book, "This is a classic book, mister, which you should probably try reading a bit more often." I scolded.

He laughed and caught my hands in his, "Maybe I should." He said, and tried to pluck it out of my hands.
"Oi! Give it!" I said trying to free my hands from his, but it wasn't much use. He took the book and put it next to him on the grass.
"You read too much and you don't have enough fun." Jacob said, looking at me with those big brown eyes that were impossible to look away from.
"Tell me about your brother." I demanded suddenly, I don't know why but it just came to me.

Jacob sighed and got up, shifted position so that he was lying next to me. He laid his arm out, signaling for me to lie down next to him. I did as he said so that I had my head on his arm. "He was diagnosed with cancer when he was two; it was only a matter of time before the cancer will take him the Doctor said. We were praying that he would be given a chance but it didn't work."

Jacob said, his voice was quiet and I could tell how much his brother's death had impacted him. "Katy doesn't remember him as much as I do; she was only 4 when he died."
"He looked cute and I can tell he would've grown up to look just like you." I said quietly.
"Oh so you think I'm cute, huh?" He asked giving me a mischievous smile. I slapped his chest and threw him a deadly glare, "Was that supposed to hurt?" He asked.
"Hey, I was trying to be nice but you turned into something dirty." I said, throwing up my hands.

He smiled as he moved his arm from underneath my head to around my waist and then I lay my head against his shoulder. We both stared up at the sky as the clouds drifted by; we both must have dozed off because when I woke up it had been an hour. I realized that in my sleep I had thrown my arm across Jacob's middle and I had thrown my leg onto his inner thigh. I glanced at him to see if he was awake too but he was still sleeping, he looked like an angel in his sleep. I carefully started to move my leg, "Move it and I'll be very sad, and you won't like me when I'm sad." He said, I looked at him and saw that he was wide awake.

I blushed under his gaze, "I-I thought you wouldn't like it so I was going to move it..." I started but then trailed off and bit my lip.
Jacob looked at me and smiled, "You look adorable when you do that." He said.

I moved my leg from his and started to get up, "I'm going to have to take my chances with you being sad. Come on, lazy bones, get up." I said taking his hand and trying to pull him up but he was too heavy. He laughed at my attempt, "Shut up." I muttered and tried again but this time I fell on top of him. That was when the trouble started, I was trapped in his brown eyes, and I just couldn't look away. It took me while to notice that we were very close to each other.

"I-I better check on Faith!" I said, quickly snapping out of my haze and hurrying inside. I practically ran down the hallway to Faith's room and there he was, playing with his toys while babbling.
"Batman!!" He yelled playfully when I came in.
"How did you know?" I asked, pretending to be shocked.
"Because I'm Batman!!!" He exclaimed.
"No, you're Robin, my sidekick." I said as I picked him up and carried him outside to Jacob. "Remember?"
"Da-Na-Nana-Da-Na-Nana, Batman!!" He yelled again.
"I have taught you so well." I said, more to myself than to him. "Say hi to Jacob, Robin." I told him as I put him down on the ground.
"Bro fist!" Faith said, giving Jacob his adorable baby smile. I grinned, another thing I had taught Faith to say.
"He looks just like Edward." Jacob said, staring at Faith, his eyes were filled with sadness and grief that I had never seen before.
"His name was Edward?" I asked Jacob.
"Yeah." Jacob choked out and I felt his pain like it was my own. I walked over and stood next to him, I slipped my hand into his. He looked at me surprised and I bit my lip before giving him a quick kiss on his cheek.
Should I continue?
Hell no, I hate your stories!
I don't care.
I need to read more to decide...
