Chapter Eleven: Love is Confusing

I have been avoiding everybody lately, well, since Jacob and I kissed. I was pretty confused, I didn't know what to think or do. So, I basically threw myself headfirst into school and work. Love is so confusing, I thought as I walked down the hall to the cafeteria. "Oh great, here he comes." I muttered when I saw Jacob coming down the hall towards me. I pulled down my cap to hide my eyes, so he wouldn't recognize me. I quickened pace so I go get past him quickly, but instead I ran smack bang into his chest. "Ow." I groaned, stepping back and tilting my head up so I could see his face. "What did you do that for?" I complained as I looked back down.

"Oh, I don't know. The fact that you have been ignoring and avoiding me lately?" Jacob snapped at me angrily.

"I've been busy, school and stuff." I mumbled shrugging.

"You have been too busy. It's almost Christmas break and you aren't even in the mood." He said, and glared at me.

"You want me to be in the mood? Fine, I'll dress up like an elf tomorrow!" I exclaimed throwing my hands up in air and feeling annoyed.

"Finally, a sign that you are actually alive in there." Jacob said, looking relieved.

"You want another sign?" I asked, angrily, "You are a jerk." I spat and walked off. I broke into a run down to the Glee room so I could be alone for a while. There would be no one there now. I got there feeling breathless, I walked over to the CD player. I pressed play to see which song was in there. The first notes came on and I knew what it was immediately.

"I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
'Til all my sleeves are stained red

From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

My God, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars
And everyday I see the news
All the problems that we could solve

And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold
But I don't really like my flow, no, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Oh, got no reason, got no shame
Got no family I can blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'mma tell you everything

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
All my secrets away, all my secrets away."

I sang with all my heart and there were tears in my eyes. I closed them as it ended, and took a deep breath as if to prepare myself before I went back out into the real world again. When I opened them, I realized that I wasn't alone, Liam was there watching me.

"You're ok?" He asked, looking at me in a curious way.

"Oh, yeah just..." I trailed off and looked at the ground.

He came forward and wrapped his arms around me. I began to cry a little in his arms. "It's ok, calm down." He said soothingly.

"I don't know what the heck is wrong with me." I said as tears streamed down my face.

"Here, why don't we go home?" He asked me gently, "I'll tell the nurse you aren't feeling well and I just want to make sure you get home safely."

"No, I'm fine." I said wiping the tears from my face quickly to show that I would be fine.

"Are you sure? Or do you just not want to admit defeat to Jake?" Liam asked tipping his head to the side.

I thought about lying but Liam was good at seeing through my lies, "Ok, so I don't want to let Jacob win." I said, glaring at the ground.

"You, my dear, need to cheer up. Next class is Glee so you and I can perform your favorite." He said smiling at me.

"Extraordinary Merry Christmas?" I asked, perking up immediately at the idea.

"You bet." He said and took my hand, pulling me down to lunch. "But you have to eat first." He added.

"I'm not that hungry." I said, "Plus we only have less than a minute before the bell rings." I pointed out.

He stared at me with his brown eyes, evaluating the situation in his mind, "Fine, you win, this time." He said as the bell rang and kids started to flood the hallways.

We both walked back into the Glee room laughing about something Liam had said. "You're ready?" He asked, glancing at me when everyone had entered the class.

"Yeah, I'm fine, you better worry about yourself." I said, smiling and playing it cool. Jacob came in the room and gave me a cold look before taking a seat next to Lib.

"I will." Liam said flashing me a smile, "Don't worry about him." He added in a lower voice before walking over to the CD player and putting in a new disk.

"Hey, Mr. G!" Chris yelled. He was one of the guys from Glee.

"Alright, settle down kiddos." Mr. G said smiling, before looking at me and Liam in questioning way.

"We're going to sing." Liam explained to him briefly. Mr. G smiled and nodded before taking a seat himself to watch. Liam glanced at me as if to ask if I were sure, I winked at him to show I was ready. He pressed play and the music began.

"He came into my dreams last night
A great, big man in red and white
He told me that it's gonna be
A special year for you and me."

I sang, trying not to look at Jacob.

"Underneath the mistletoe
Hold me tight and kiss me slow
The snow is high so come inside
I wanna hear you say to me!"

Liam's smooth and perfect voice rang out.

"It's a very, very, Merry, Merry Christmas
Gonna party on 'til Santa grants my wishes
Got my halo on I know what I want
It's who I'm with
It's an extraordinary Merry Christmas!"

I sang, walking towards Liam and he spun me around.

"Won't you meet me by the tree?
Slip away so secretly
Can't you see how this could be?
The greatest gift of all!"

Liam sang, looking at Tess as he sang this.

"It's a very, very, Merry, Merry Christmas
Gonna stay with you 'til Santa grants my wishes."

I sang, gently so that it didn't sound intimidating.

"Got my halo on I know what I want
It's who I'm with
It's an extraordinary Merry...
Very, very, Merry, Merry Christmas!
Gonna party on 'til Santa grants my wishes
Got my halo on I know what I want
It's who I'm with
It's an extraordinary Merry Christmas!"

Lib came and we sang as a trio, our voices became a beautiful blend.

"It's a very, very, Merry, Merry Christmas
It's an extraordinary Merry Christmas!"

I sang alone, as Liam twirled me so I was in his arms.

The room erupted in applause and I smiled at Libby, "I got my own one to sing but I may need you." Lib whispered to me as the class applauded.

"Proud to be of help." I said winking at her. When the noise died down Libby grinned at me.

"So, this one is for those of you who've had a really messed up week." She said with the biggest smile ever on her face. She hit play on the CD player.

"It's been a really, really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter
And my boyfriend went and cheated on me
He's a California dime but it's time for me to quit him."

Lib sang.

"La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn't matter, la la la, oh well, la la la."
I sang shrugging my shoulders and rolling my eyes.

"We're going at it tonight, tonight
There's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight, tonight and we're dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight."

Liam and Tess sang. Lib and I went around and began pulling people out of their seats.

"I woke up with a strange tattoo
Not sure how I got it, not a dollar in my pocket
And it kinda looks just like you
Mixed with Zach Galifianakis."

Nathan sang grinning as he spun Lib around.

"Ha." I said, doing my perfect laugh. I went over to Jacob and slipped my hand into his, I pulled him up.

"La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn't matter, la la la, oh well, la la la." Jacob joined.

"We're going at it tonight, tonight
There's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight, tonight and we're dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight."

"Just don't stop let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out

Just don't stop let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out."

Lib and I sang together as it ended, I gave her a big hug.

Everyone was laughing and having a good time, except for Jacob. I would have to apologize later, the class had practically flown by and the bell rang. I grabbed my bag and told Libby that I would catch her later. I headed off to Math, when I got there I took a seat next to Jacob. "Jacob?" I asked quietly, he looked up and raised an eyebrow. "You have lip gloss on your cheek." I said shaking my head at him slightly.

His eyes widened, "Oh shoot, Courtney was getting friendly." He muttered and rubbed his hand against his cheek, the lip gloss smeared even more. "Is it all gone?" He asked me hopefully.

The side of my mouth turned up slightly, I couldn't help but notice how cute Jacob looked. "Not quite." I said as I pulled out a tissue from my bag, "Here, let me." I held his other cheek in my hand and with the other I started rubbing the lip gloss off. I felt butterflies in my stomach as I noticed how close we were, I felt something sliding around my waist pulling me closer. I looked up at Jacob's eyes and there was a look of smugness, I lowered my gaze back down. I found myself staring at his lips, they looked so... tempting for a moment before I heard a boy shouting.

"Hey look! Justice and Jacob are about kiss!!"

I snapped out of my sudden daze and immediately moved away from Jacob, "What?" I asked disbelievingly.

"Aaron! They were gonna kiss until you ruined it!" Another girl complained in the class.

I felt myself blushing and hid my face in my arms, "It would have to be me who gets embarrassed in front of the class." I mumbled in my arms.

"Don't worry; the feeling soon wears off." Jacob said crossing his arms on his chest and leaning back in his seat with a big smirk on his face.

I wanted to send him a death glare and a slap but to be honest, he looked too cute. "Love is so confusing." I said firmly to myself.
Should I continue?
Yes!
Um, no, hun.
I really don't know!
