Chapter Three: Faith
I still could not stop thinking about Jacob's dead brother, the image of the adorable little boy with soft blue eyes and golden hair was stuck in my mind. No, no, no, no, I thought, this is not right. It was mid-afternoon when Lib and I left that house, and now it was late evening but I could still not stop thinking about the baby boy.
"Hey Princess, are you coming down for dinner?" A voice asked. I looked up quickly, not realizing someone had come into my room. I knew that it must have been Nathan even before I looked up; he was the only one who ever called me Princess. He knew the nickname annoyed so that's why he decided to call me it.
"Uh, no I'm not hungry." I said, shrugging and trying to make it look casual.
Nathan stared at me like I had just gone crazy, "Wait, what? Since when did you decide to stop eating meals?" I never actually skipped meals, I was weird that way. Nathan knew this too, that's why he reacted like that. I could tell he would be putting up a huge fight.
"I'm just not hungry today, Nathan." I said, rolling my eyes. "Is that such a crime?"
"It is to me, Princess." He said looking me straight in the eyes because he knew that I would melt and do what he asked if he did that.
I groaned, "That is not fair." I whined throwing a pillow at his face. He caught it, grinning, and threw it back; hitting me straight in the face. "Jerk." I mumbled.
"Excuse me, what was that? Did you just call me a jerk?" He asked pretending to be extremely hurt.
"Yes, I did, Baby Nath." I said teasingly. 'Baby Nath' was a nickname that Nathan's mother and brothers used for him. And Nathan absolutely hated that nickname, which was all the better for me.
"She did not just call me that!" Nathan said, smiling dangerously.
"Yes, she did and she has a name." I responded planning my escape route because I knew Nathan wouldn't take what I had called him lightly. I kept my eyes to the left of him so that he would think that's where I am going but instead I would go to the right and if that didn't work, I would have to improvise.
"You are in big trouble, Missy." Nathan said and that was when I made a run for it, I made it look like I was running to the left side but at the last second I dodged, his arms went to the right. I, luckily, managed to make it out of my room.
"Hah! Sucker." I said to myself, feeling victorious as I ran and hid in Destiny's room. I thought I heard Nathan walk straight past my hiding place, so I peeked out from the room when his footsteps faded. There was no one in the hallway so I carefully ventured out, and looked around again to double check; still no one there. Then, just as I was about to take a step forward, someone grabbed me from the behind and made me scream.
"Gotcha, Princess! Who's the sucker now?" Nathan asked tauntingly.
"I regret nothing!" I said haughtily, trying to break free from his grasp around my waist.
"You better take it back." Nathan said, threateningly, "Or else..."
"Never." I said, still trying to break free.
"Well, looks like I have no choice." He said, and then he began tickling me.
"NATHAN..." I said between laughing, gasping and trying to dig my nails into his hand so he would let go of me. "Please... stop."
"Not till you apologize, Princess." He said, letting me breathe for a few seconds.
"Never." I said, again defiantly.
"Then, sorry." He said and began tickling me again, mercilessly.
I tried sucking it up for a few minutes but then I began suffocating from the amount of laughing. "Stop, stop, stop!!" I begged, "I'm sorry. Please stop." I managed to say.
"Hah! I knew you would crack." Nathan said, smirking. I sent him a death glare. "I didn't do it." He said, smiling innocently and I could tell he knew that he had taken it too far.
"I hate you." I said walking past him still feeling angry.
"Hey!" He called after me, "That's not very nice!" He ran after me.
"Go away Nathan." I said not looking at him.
He went in front of me so that I couldn't go any farther, "Aw, come on, you know you love me." He said lifting my chin with his hand so I could see his puppy dog eyes. I bit my lip to keep from smiling, but it didn't work; I started smiling. "You smiled! I'm off the hook." He said, grinning and taking my hand in his.
"Luckily you are." I said rolling my eyes.
"So, are you going to eat dinner?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"I'm a vampire, sweetie, I drink blood." I said, smiling a little. The whole vampire thing is an inside joke, Libby was the one who started. You see, since I had super pale skin Libby thought I was a vampire. She had some weird obsession with vampires that I never understood. Lib was always jealous of my looks; she had tan skin, wavy brown hair and light blue eyes. Personally, I wished I looked like her, at least then I wouldn't be afraid to show people how ugly my hair was.
He smiled, "Nice try, Princess. But you are going to eat food, whether you like it or not." He said, pulling me downstairs towards the dining room.
"Hold up! Where's Faith?" I asked, stopping dead; Faith is my two-year baby brother.
"He's eating dinner, like you should be." Nathan said, sighing, "Do I have to carry you?" He threatened.
"I'm not hungry." I stated.
"Right, I'm picking you up." He said, starting towards me.
"No. Nathan stop, I just want to spend some time with Faith, and I am truly not hungry." I said quickly.
Nathan stared at me for a while, waiting for me to break contact and look down but I didn't, I stared straight back at him. "Fine." He said after a while but he didn't seem too happy about it.
"Yes!" I said, smiling big and giving Nathan a quick hug, "You know you love me." I said imitating him and smiling up at him innocently.
He laughed at my imitation, "You better get going before I change my mind and pick you up."
I smiled and quickly hurried off down the hall to the kitchen but instead found Faith in the living room. He looked up when he heard me walk in.
"Jay!" He said, happily. Faith couldn't say my name, when he had just turned two he tried but all that came out was 'Jay'.
"Hey, little buddy." I said, going over to him and sitting down. Faith trotted over to the bookshelf and pulled out a little story book, he then came back to me and sat down on my lap. "Want me to read it to ya?" I asked. Faith patted the book and smiled.
"Alright, which book did you grab?" I asked, taking it from him and looking at it, "The Big Bad Wolf." I read aloud, "You know, Jay has read the wolf book so many times that she could just gag." I said, scrunching up my face and making Faith laugh.
"Read." He said and began babbling a little.
"You know, Faith." I said, staring out of the window and not paying attention to the fact that Faith couldn't really understand me. "I saw a picture of a baby boy today, he looked exactly like you. I nearly had a heart attack and thought it was you, did you know that?" I asked finally looking down at the happy bouncing boy in my lap.
"I want a chocolate." He said smiling big.
I sighed, "You weren't listening, were you?" I asked.
"No." He said shaking his head and smiling.
I laughed at his adorable smile, "Fine, I'll get you a choco, but just this once." I said, lifting him off my lap and putting him on the ground. I stood up and was heading to the door.
"You love Nathan?" Faith asked.
I turned and stared at him, "What?" I asked him, still not believing what he had said.
"You love Nathan?" He asked again.
I shook my head, while blushing at the question, "No, Faith, no I don't." I said, and little did I know that Nathan was listening from behind the door.
Kristy Sanders ~ I love their names too! I got the idea from my camp name in Girl Scouts. I was Liberty and then I thought of this story! I bet Nath and Jacob are, Justice and Jacob will be getting close throughout the book but I won't tell you anything else! I promise I will upload each chapter as quickly as possible! Your comment made me feel so happy, thanks.
Alexandra C ~ I am glad you like it so far! I guess I kind of made Justice overreact to the pic. It looked exactly her brother, so then she got scared. I guess I made her a little bit of a drama queen already! Thanks so much for your comment, it really means a lot to me!!
Aahana Kiut ~ I am glad you like the story so far! I thought that naming them all abnormal things would add a cool gist to the book, I am glad you like them too! The picture looked exactly like her brother so she got kind of scared, I admit that I made her overreact too much. Sorry! Anyway, thanks so much for your comment.
Mashael Ali ~ I am so glad you like it! I posted the second chapter before I saw your comment, so that's why I didn't reply to you comment! Thanks so much for you comment.
