Chapter Twelve: Break up or Make up?

"You jerk! I can’t believe it!" I heard Lib yelling at someone from down the hall, I picked up my pace and hurried down towards her voice. It was the end of the school day and I was on my way out but now, that would definitely have to wait. Lib came into view and she was yelling at Tom, who stood next to Courtney. "We are done. I am done with you." Lib said and her voice sounded dead as if she wasn’t there anymore. Her eyes were filled with tears as she took a step towards him before walking away. She grabbed my arm as she went and pulled me along with her, we ended up on the sidewalk leading home.

"Lib?" I asked carefully. I had wished a million times over that she would break up with him but I didn't think it would happen. Then again, this could be another one of her phases.

"We are done." She said and there was a tone in her voice that told me she wasn't joking or thinking about taking him back. "We never even existed."

I frowned as she said this, "I'm sorry." I said and put my arm around her shoulders, giving her a gentle squeeze. "He was a jerk and now he's with a jerkette so everything works." I said trying to make me smile.

She laughed through her tears, "Yeah, that's true. Justice, you have never understood what it feels like to love someone so much that when they leave you, it almost kills you." Lib said looking at me with the most sad and upset look ever.

I frowned again, she was right; I had never loved anyone the way that she did so I had no idea what she was going through. "You're right; I have never fallen in love with a guy and then lost him." I said slowly, I wasn't hurt by what she said.

"Something tells me that, that is going to change very soon." Lib said looking at me in a somewhat jealous way.

"What? Jacob? No, he's just a huge flirt. I mean, there is nothing going on between us at all." I said shaking my head quickly and making sure that Lib understood me.

She gave me a sad smile, "You’re lucky to have a guy who loves you that much. I never did." Lib said in a quiet and somewhat defeated way.

I wanted to tell her to take Jacob that he was all hers but I knew that he wasn’t in love with her and she wasn’t in love with him. "Let’s go home." I said putting my arm around her shoulders and gently guiding her home.

As we approached our house we saw Nathan lounging on the lawn with a lazy smile on his handsome face. His light brown hair had a windblown effect, the sun was shining on his tan skin and his eyes were sparkling in a cheerful way as his gaze landed on us, "Why does he suddenly look so attractive?" Lib whispered to me as she swiped at the tears falling down her cheeks.

I gave her a slightly shocked look, "You find him attractive?" I asked her as we paused at the gate towards our house.

"Look at his face!" She muttered as she stared down at the ground.

"Yeah, but eventually that face starts to talk." I pointed out in my sarcastic tone of voice, as I opened the gate.

She laughed a little at my comment, "True. Oh God, I can't let him see me like this." Lib said swiping at the continuous flow of tears. "I gotta get inside." She said and made a run for the door. Nathan frowned slightly as she zipped past him towards the door, "Hi Nath." She said briefly, the front door shut with a bang.

Nathan turned his worried gaze on me; there was a slight crease on his forehead as he spoke, "What happened, princess?" He asked looking at me in a slightly concerned way, "You two aren't fighting, are you?" He asked.

"Tom. Courtney." I said simply and a look of absolute fury came onto Nathan's face.

"That idiot! Did he hurt her?" Nathan asked as he stood up and started pacing around on the lawn. "Oh God, poor Libby." He muttered as he paced furiously.

"Nathan!" I said loudly to get his attention.

His head snapped up and looked at me, "Yeah?"

"I need you to calm down and listen to me." I said firmly and took both his hands in mine as I spoke. He nodded before I continued, "Do you like Libby?" I asked nice and slow so he would understand me.

"Um, well…" He trailed off, removing one his hands from mine and reached up to scratch the back of his neck. "Just, a little bit." He admitted with a shy smile.

I grinned, "I knew it! I so knew it!!!" I exclaimed, "Ok, lover-boy, go inside and give her some ice cream. I assume you know that, that is what girls eat when they are upset. Oh and-" I was cut off.

"I know, watch some Big Bang Theory with her, make some root beer floats because that is her favorite drink and bring her Twilight books in case she wants to have a good read." Nathan said ticking the things off on his fingers before looking at me as if to say ‘that it?’ with a look of smugness too.

"And I thought I knew my twin…" I muttered, "Alright, Mr. Showoff, go make me proud." I said and gently shoved his back towards the door. "All you gotta worry about is if this is a break up or make up."

Chapter Thirteen: Heart Vacancy

"Hey Libby." Tom said giving her his sly smile which usually reeled her back in immediately but this time it didn’t work.

"I’m sorry but did you say something?" She asked him with a cold look. He gave her a shocked look and failed to respond to her hateful glare. "No? I didn’t think so." She said and brushed pass him as if he didn’t exist.

Tess and I exchanged shocked looks before following Lib, "I'm sorry, I was just walking with Liberty Revenge 2 minutes ago, could you tell me where she is?" I asked when we caught up with Lib and confronted her.

She laughed at my comment, "You don't need to be so shocked, Jay." She responded while rolling her eyes.

"I think I should be." I responded and gave her a 'you are crazy' look.

"Should we be worried too?" Tess added raising an eyebrow at Lib.

"I have no idea what you guys are playing at!" Libby exclaimed throwing her hands up in the air, "I told you I wasn't going to get back together with Tom and I am standing by my word."

"Yeah, that’s what worries us." Tess muttered to me as we entered the Glee room where Jacob, Nathan and Liam were talking to each other quietly.

"Oh Lord. This is going to be interesting." I muttered in sarcastic tone as I took my seat in between Libby and Tess.

Tess shot me a sly smile, "Just because you have a crush on Jacob doesn’t mean you can be grumpy." She said in scolding tone.

"Yeah, yeah… wait, WHAT?" I said a little too loudly because I earned a raised eyebrow from Mr. G. "I don’t have a crush on him." I whispered angrily, "Why does everyone think that?"

"Maybe because you keep blushing and pulling down your cap when his name is mentioned." Libby responded grinning at Tess as I pulled down my cap again.

I glared at them before crossing my arms of my chest and leaned back in my chair. Nathan pulled up a chair in front of Libby and the music began to play-

"I hear your heart cry for love, but you won't let me make it right,
You were hurt, but I decided it that you were worth the fight,
Every night, you lock up, you won't let me come inside,
But the look in your eyes, I can turn the tide.
In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
I can tell you can fit one more,
In your heart, in your heart, in your heart. I don't care who was there before."

He sang looking straight into her eyes.

Jacob pulled up a chair in front of me with a slight smile,

"I hear your heart cry for love, then you act like there's no room,
Room for me, or anyone, "Don't disturb" is all I see,
Close the door, turn the key on everything that we could be,
If loneliness would move out, I'd fill the vacancy.
In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
Ooh....

In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
Ooh...."

He sang in his deep melodic voice.

"This ain't the Heartbreak Hotel, even though I know it well,
Those no shows, they sure tell, in the way you hold yourself,
Don't you fret, should you get another cancellation,
Give me a chance I'd make a permanent reservation."

Nathan and Liam sang together.

"In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
I can tell you can fit one more,
Open up make a brand new start,
I don't care who's stayed before.
I hear your heart cry for love, then you act like there's no room,
Room for me, or anyone, "Don't disturb" is all I see,
Close the door, turn the key on everything that we could be,
If loneliness would move out, I'd fill the vacancy.
In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
Ooh...
In your heart, in your heart, in your heart,
Ooh..."

Jacob finished off looking only at me as if I were the only person in the room.

"Thanks, but I can handle myself. You guys don’t need to be reassuring that what I did was good." Libby said looking at them with a small smile before leaning forward and kissing Liam’s cheek, then Jacob’s cheek and lastly brushing her lips against Nathan’s cheek.

"Alright kiddos, for the rest of the class we will be discussing what the meaning of love is." Mr. G said before writing the word ‘love’ up on the whiteboard.

"It’s when a handsome guy and hot girl get married." Jacob said rolling his eyes as if this was the obvious and most likely answer.

I looked at him and felt annoyed, "Actually, Mr. Marks, I believe that love is the feeling you get for someone else. Love is like gravity, it pulls you down to the ground. Love requires a heart, which judging by your previous comment tells me that you don’t have one." I said raising an eyebrow at him as I completed my sentence and poked him in the chest.

"Oooo, she got you Jacob." Chris said grinning at me as if he was satisfied with my little speech.

I smiled smugly as Jacob blushed slightly, probably not expecting a girl to beat him in any way. He then sent me a glare, "Problem, hun?" I asked smiling at him sweetly.

"Yeah." He said, getting up from his chair, "With you." Jacob added while walking over to the CD play and changing the disk before pressing play.

"If I could write you a song to make you fall in love,
I would already have you up under my arm,
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this,
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me.

You got designer shades just to hide your face and,
You wear 'em around like you're cooler than me,
And you never say "hey" or remember my name,
And it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me.

You got your highbrow shoes on your feet,
And you wear 'em around like it ain't shit,
But you don't know the way that you look,
When your steps make that much noise.

Sh, see I got you all figured out,
You need everyone's eyes just to feel seen,
Behind your make up nobody knows who you even are,
Who do you think that you are?

If I could write you a song to make you fall in love,
I would already have you up under my arm,
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this,
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me.

You got designer shades just to hide your face and,
You wear 'em around like you're cooler than me,
And you never say "hey" or remember my name,
And it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me.

You got your highbrow switch in your walk,
And you don't even look when you pass by,
But you don't know the way that you look,
When your steps make that much noise.

Sh, see I got you all figured out,
You need everyone's eyes just to feel seen,
Behind your make up nobody knows who you even are,
Who do you think that you are?

'Cause it sure seems
('Cause it sure seems)
You got no doubt
(That you got no doubt)
But we all see
(We all see)
You got your head in the clouds
(Clouds)

If I could write you a song to make you fall in love,
I would already have you up under my arm,
(Under my arm)
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this,
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me.

You got designer shades just to hide your face and,

He finished off, and his eyes never left mine as he sang.

Everyone’s eyes were on me as he sang and I was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable. When he finished there was complete silence in the room but luckily for me it only lasted a few moments because the bell rang. I grabbed my bag and hurried out of there, as soon as I was in the hall I felt relief. "Running away?" A deep voice asked from behind me, I didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.

"No, I wasn’t Jacob; it was getting hot in there that’s all." I said trying to keep the angry tone out of my voice.

He laughed at my excuse, "Justice Revenge, couldn’t take the heat, always running away because she can’t face her feelings." Jacob said in his taunting and cocky voice.

"Excuse me?" I asked turning around to face him, "You are the one who flirts with me like crazy. I may have insulted you but I have always come back to apologize. I gave you my sympathy when I heard about your brother, as stupid as it was of me." I spat at him as a rage burned in my stomach.

He looked down at his chest where my hand was, I had been pushing him back towards the wall, "You can’t seem to resist me." He said in the same cocky tone of voice.

"Oh shut-" I was cut off when Jacob pulled me towards him by my waist and placed his lips on mine. The kiss was slow and passionate; I relaxed as soon as his lips were on mine and felt the fireworks explode from his touch. My hands were on his chest and his were around my waist, making sure there was no space between us. It felt like I couldn’t bear to not be touching him, or to not be with him in any way. He pulled away slowly and then placed a last little peck on my lips.

"You were saying?" He asked raising an eyebrow at me and looking smug.

"Um…" I mumbled, not able to form words with my tingling lips.

"That’s what I thought." Jacob said smirking at me.
