Tarnished - Chapter 10

Does Dr. Viola Farrington give in? Sandra never finds out but we will.
I jumped out of bed and stood ready for whatever he was going to bring my way... but instead of being aggressive or argumentative, like I had expected, he just stood there, looking hopeless, staring at me with his sapphires.

I stared back, wondering if I should take his stunned silence as an opportunity to run out of the room.

"Viola..." His voice was low and soft, his sapphires in liquid form once again.

I watched him as he stood there, his eyes shining and his chest rising up and down slowly. He returned my stare, a crease appearing between his eyebrows, and his perfectly sharp cheekbones stretching, as a desperate frown crossed his face.

I took a deep breath, trying to maintain a steady voice. "What do you want?!"

He sighed, taking a step closer to me. "I’m sorry Vi..."

I shook my head, looking away from him.

"Vi!" He urged; the desperation in his voice rising. "Please baby... I’m sorry for what I did. I won’t ever do it again."

I folded my arms, "You think, coming in here and telling me you’re sorry is enough to sort this out?"

"No baby, I know this is really bad..."

"It’s more than bad!" I snapped. "You slapped me!" The thought of my own husband, my own loving husband, slapping me, made me want to regurgitate. "How... What...?!" Words failed me.

He shook his head, taking a step closer to me. "Baby, I know! I don’t know why I did it. I was so stupid! You were right, I was childish! I was being pathetic. I’m sorry, baby I really am." Tears whirled in his shiny eyes.

"I don’t want to know Korbin." I gripped the fold in my arms harder and turned to face the opposite way, not wanting to even look at him. "I think you should leave now."

"No... baby..." Korbin’s voice lowered and I sensed sobs were threatening to take over again.

"Don’t call me that. I don’t want to be near you right now. I’m really scared Korbin, just leave!" I snapped again.

I heard nothing, I couldn’t even hear him breathing, when his arms urgently wrapped around me and threatened to never let go.

"What that?! What are you doing Korbin?!" I half-shrieked due to the shock.

He planted a kiss on my cheek, as he pressed my back into his chest. "Baby... I couldn’t handle seeing you with another guy tonight..." He kissed my neck passionately and resumed explaining. "When I saw you dancing with him, I felt something I’ve never felt before. We’ve been married for less than a year and... and... I’m still new at this... You drive me crazy."

"I didn’t do anything wrong and you ‘punished’ me! Is that how I drive you crazy?!" I yelled trying to struggle out of his grip, but now I realized that my husband was too strong.

"Hush babygirl!" He tightened his grip around my body and my shoulders began to hurt. "I was feeling so much... jealousy... and I know you didn’t do anything wrong! You never do. You’re so perfect... but I wanted you to understand... and you didn’t... I couldn’t make you..."

"So you forced me." I said, boldly. "By turning violent."

He sighed and began softly crying again. "I know! I’m so sorry baby." He spoke whilst leaning his head on my shoulder. "Please Vi, know how sorry I am... forgive me."

Tears stung my eyes as I heard him crying. As I listened to him and felt his wet tears soak the skin on my neck.

"Please." He whispered.

"Don’t tell me you did forgive him!" Sandra snorted with laughter. She was laying down now on the bed in our cell. I chuckled with her. "You really are a sucker for that man."

"I was in love." I said sheepishly.

"I hope for your sake you’re not still in love with him." Sandra laughed lightly again while I remained quiet. "Go on, what happened next?"

"Well..." I half-wondered whether Sandra needed to know the truth or not. Suddenly, the sound of the cell door being unlocked and opened was heard.

"Sandra, come here." It was Willow at the door. "Come on Sandra!" She urged.

Me and Sandra exchanged glances as she made her way to Willow and followed her out of the door. The cell door was then locked again, and I was left to my own thoughts...

Korbin left a trail of kisses along my neck, up to my ear, which he was now gently massaging with his lips.

"Stop it." I tried to sound bold and strong but my defense was being weakened. He wasn’t playing fairly... this wasn’t fair. He couldn’t hurt me and then win me over with this. He was acting... he was...

"I mean it, Korbin! Let me go, we will talk about this tomorrow after work. Look at the clock, it’s nearly 1:00 am now." I pointed to the clock briefly in an attempt to distract him, but he was otherwise engaged with enjoying my neck.

I sighed.

"Viola..." Though he was whispering; my name danced gently off his lips and floated into the hot air that was surrounding us both.

I shook my head as he traced his hands lower along my waist, playing with the lace knotted material there. My own hands followed his, with the intention of preventing the knot of lace being untied. His hands resisted the knot, and quickly interlocked with mine. His lips were still provoking the skin on my neck and jawline, while he continued to intertwine his fingers with mine. Though my fingers tried every angle to gain freedom from his, his were forceful, and they were used to getting their own way.

A jolt of shock lightening sprang through me as he used one hand to clasp both of mine out of the way of his other hand, which was now pulling on one of the draw-strings holding my lace shawl together.

Pulling slow...

Panic ran through me... I couldn’t let him do this, it was wrong. I couldn’t give in.

"No!" I protested rather loudly, as I struggled out of his grip and smacked his hands away.

He was thrown off-guard by my sudden movement and stared at me as I stood opposite him with my arms folded again.

"You can’t do that!" I yelled. "Not after what you did earlier. You don’t have any right to do that. You didn’t stop when I told you to! Is that your way of showing me you’re sorry?!" I continued to raise my voice as he looked down at his feet, rather ashamed. "You’re trying to take advantage of the fact that I can’t resist you! You hurt me! You scared me tonight! I never thought you would do this!"

Tears stained my eyes as he held his head up to lock eyes with me and receive his scolding. "What you just did... Everything that you just did... You will not do that again, do you hear me? Not until I’m ready to move on with what you’ve done! That’s IF I’m ever ready!" My expression was anger stricken and I only became angrier when tears flashed in his eyes again.

"No! Please Vi, you have to forgive me." He said moving closer to me again, reaching his hands out to hold on to my elbows. "I will never hurt you again!"

I shook my head at him, trying to maintain my angry disposition.

"I’m not trying to take advantage of you." He cried loudly while he spoke. "I’m trying to make you feel something."

"Feel what?!" I snapped. "Pain? Torment?"

He sighed. "Feel how much I love you... By hurting you... I’ve hurt me... I’ve hurt us." He swallowed hard as he explained. "We’re strong Vi, stronger than what I did tonight. Please! Forgive me for hurting you; I punished you for my insecurity and that wasn’t fair." Tears leaked from my eyes. "It wasn’t right, and I will never hurt you again, I promise." His voice was low, his eyes shone in the dimly lit bedroom.

Our eyes locked for a few moments, while I registered everything he said.

"You feel insecure?" I asked quietly.

He nodded his head. "And tonight I realized how much."

"But why?"

"Oh for God’s sake Vi! Look at yourself!" He spun me around quickly and marched me over to a large mirror within the room. "You’re absolutely stunning... you’re my beautifully, perfect wife. When I saw you dance with... with... him tonight... I just..." This time, words failed him. And as he shook his head, ashamed of himself, my heart sealed the burning wound that I had felt earlier when he had slapped me.

It would always be there... on my heart... I would never forget what he did... But I could forgive him... and so could my heart... as well as every inch of my body.

"I forgive you." His eyes shot up to meet mine, through the reflection of the mirror as I spoke quietly.

"I forgive you."

Happiness spread across his handsome face and his well-defined cheekbones traversed across his face as a humongous smile took over the tears. "Oh Vi!" He hugged me from behind as I unfolded my arms and placed them over his. "I love you." He whispered.

I stared at his eyes through the mirror... He was in earnest. I had never been so sure of it. "I love you too." I returned his smile, and began letting myself enjoy the kisses he placed on my neck once again.

I leant the back of my head on his shoulder as his hands once again traced along the draw-strings of my shawl, and this time, I allowed his gentlemanly fingers to pull, and untie the lace.

He sighed with light relief and pleasure... the pleasure of gaining my forgiveness... the pleasure of having me all to himself... the pleasure of marking his territory once more....

The cell door crashed open and Willow emerged through it.

"Come on, brush your hair and get your jacket Farrington." She said rushing over to me and pulling me to an upright position on the bed.

I had gone into a daze... thinking about Korbin... it took me a moment to realize where I ‘still’ was. When I didn’t immediately respond to Willow’s commands, she pressed on.

"You must look better than this!" She urged.

I blinked. "What for?"

She blinked back at me. "Why, Viola..." She shook her head in disbelief of the fact that I didn’t know what was going on, and then cleared her throat while a ‘thinking’ expression took over her face.

I raised an eyebrow at her. Upon seeing this, she stated:

"You have a visitor."

Dr Viola Farrington has a visitor? Who could it be? Cliff-hanger! ... Sorry about that...
