The tiredness left me. "Damn it!" I muttered, picking up my pace and walking quickly along the pavement.

I heard his engine rev, soon his silver convertible slid to a halt in front of me. Its two front wheels on the pavement, with the back of the car still on the road.

Korbin got out of the car quickly, running over to me. "Hey! Wait!"

I stopped walking to watch his staggering... He was falling over all over the place... Was he... Was he drunk?

"Wait!" He called.

Anxiety took over me. I had come back this late only to meet him again? My heart sank as he reached me.

He reached out for my arm, but I moved it out of his reach.

"Hey! Wait, where are you going?!" He called, his speech slurring as I ran away from him.

I heard the horn of another car.

"Whose car is this? You idiot, get back on the road!"

"Alright, alright!" Korbin answered.

I couldn’t hear anymore, as I cut through somebody’s back garden.

I shook my head as I ran... What was I doing? What if the owner of this house had a fog light? Or had a burglar alarm? What was I doing this for?! All to avoid my husband?! How the hell did I still run into him after coming home this late?

I stopped running eventually. I reached a bench along the outskirts of a lane. My mansion was near... I could just rest here for a while, until I was less shaken up... Maybe that would give Korbin time to get home and perhaps pass out on the sofa in his drunken state.

I shook my head again, holding my head in my hands as I sat. He was drunk driving? What if he was caught? How would that reflect on his business? His father would kill him! How could he be so stupid?

Another fifteen minutes passed, and then I was satisfied that I had waited enough time. I got off the bench and continued walking home. I walked quickly, pondering over his drunkenness... Why did I care so much? I had to stop caring so much. I had to disengage myself from him and his business.

I suddenly became aware that I was at the entrance of our mansion’s grounds... that’s when I heard his car’s engine again.

His silver convertible came bustling out of our large gates... upon seeing me, he slammed on the brakes.

I tried walking around in front of his car to get past it, but he accelerated and the car moved forward, narrowly avoiding hitting me. I hovered, and then tried running around the back of his car, but he shoved it into reverse and blocked my way again.

"Move your car Korbin!" I yelled over the sound of the sports engine.

He opened his door and came running towards me. I took it as my cue to try to squeeze in the gap between his car and the gates but he reached me first.

He grabbed my arms, my waist, my shoulders, my legs... Anything he could... This wasn’t his usual grabbing... He hadn’t been this violent before... There was something different this time.

"Get off, Korbin!" I shrieked. "Get off me! Leave me alone!"

He pulled me towards his car.

"Stop it! No!"

I kicked him and abruptly he stopped. His arms were wrapped around my body... My back pressed into his chest.

"Calm down for a second." He slurred, his voice was weak, as he was out of breath.

"What’s going on Korbin?" I looked at his face properly amidst my terror. He looked terrible. His face was covered in sweat and it was bright red... One cheek was partially swollen and his shirt was a bit torn. I placed my arm around his shoulder, maybe I could get him to talk... Maybe I could comfort him. Maybe he would calm down. "What happened to you?"

He sighed, our eyes meeting. "I need you..." It was barely a whisper.

"Then let’s go inside and talk in your office." For a split second I felt something from him... I felt that he needed me... I could see it in his hurting eyes and hear it in his voice.

He shook his head. "I don’t want to go back in there... You have to come with me."

"No Korbin. I don’t want to go anywhere, I want to stay here. You’re in no state to drive." I urged.

He shook his head drunkenly again and began moving his arms around my body, as his feet started navigating towards the car again.

"No! Korbin, I said I’m not going anywhere!" I yelled.

"Get in my car, now!" He hissed.

He opened the passenger side door. I momentarily had the upper hand in trying to get out from his grip, but he regained hold of me and throttled me into the seat, slamming the door shut behind me.

"What are you doing?" I yelled again. "What the hell Korbin? Tell me! What are we doing? Where are we going?!" Whatever I had felt before... It had only lasted a few seconds.

He got back in the driver’s seat and before I knew it, we were roaring away in the pitch black night... Again.

He slowed down abruptly to turn out of the lane, onto the main road.

He didn’t answer any of my questions; he wiped some blood off his mouth, blood which I hadn’t noticed before. He made it onto the main road, and then onto the highway. Speeding as usual.

"Slow down!" I shrieked. The roof was down; the wind was crashing against my face. I quickly reached for my seat belt. What was he going to do? He looked so angry and wound up... Was he going to kill us? "Where are you taking me Korbin?"

He finally looked at me. "If you ask me that one more time..." His voice quivered threateningly.

I shuddered. Was he going to hit me again? My fear rose to a level it had never been at before. "Stop it Korbin! You’re scaring me!"

He smirked, keeping his eyes on the road.

The rest of the journey remained in a similar context... I was bombarding him with questions, only to have them ignored by him.

Abruptly, he turned the car off the highway onto a slip road where there were no lamplights.

"Where is this?" I asked again.

He continued to drive down numerous lanes. Eventually, we reached a miniature island that had something that could have been a private beach villa on it. We drove over a wooden bridge... Korbin then slammed the brakes on and shut the engine down. We were parked in front of the villa.

"What is this place? Whose is it?" I asked frantically as he got out of the car and walked over to my door. He opened it. "I’m not getting out of this car until you tell me where the hell we are Korbin!" I yelled.

He wasn’t having it, he responded by unbuckling my seat belt and grabbing my hands, yanking me out of the seat. I stumbled out and had to lean on him to regain my balance. He slammed the door shut and started dragging me towards the villa.

It was too dark for me to see anything, so I did what any person would do.

"HELP! HELP! HELP ME!!" I yelped at the top of my voice.

Korbin fumbled in his pocket for keys while I continued yelling. Eventually he found them and turned his eyes on me.

"HELP ME! I DON’T KNOW WHERE I AM! HELP!" I yelled again.

Suddenly his hands were forcing me against the wall of the villa and his lips were on mine. They were harsh and violent.

The kiss ended as quickly as it started.

Korbin was smirking at me.

"There’s no use shouting, this is MY villa. No one is here, apart from you and me."

I stared at him in horror. "You shouldn’t kiss a woman like that!" I spat. "HELP! HELP!" I started shouting again just to annoy him. He couldn’t make me do what he wanted me to do.

Again his lips were sealing mine shut. His lips pressurized mine as I struggled to resist the force.

It ended.

"If you don’t stop shouting, I’ll stand here and kiss you all night." He seethed, his eyes glowing in the dark, flashing dangerously like they always did.

"You’re wicked..." I murmured, my voice eventually got louder. "You’re wicked! What’s wrong with you?"

He smirked again. Grabbing my arm, he unlocked the door with one hand and slid it open. He pulled me inside and slid the door shut behind us.

"Stop it Korbin! Why have you brought me here?"

He stopped dragging me towards another part of the villa and leaned his face close to mine. "Everyone is at our home... Every single one of them... They are all betrayers and traitors! They’ve done the unthinkable! They’re-"

"What are you going to do?" I asked, scared to the core.

He smirked. "A wife’s job is to make her husband feel better... I’m your husband, and I need you to make me feel better." He lingered with his face inches from mine for a few more moments while the realization of what he meant dawned on me.

No... Surely not... He wouldn’t... He was so drunk... He couldn’t even keep his eyes straight...

Suddenly he was dragging me to a set of double doors.

"No! Korbin! I beg you! Whatever they did, I’m sorry." I said anything I could think of to try to calm him down. "I’m sorry for what they’ve done to you! I wish I could do something about it! If you drive us back now, I’ll tell them all exactly how it is! I promise! Just don’t do anything bad now Korbin please! Don’t do anything-"

I was cut off by him circling his arm around my waist and flinging me over his shoulder. He opened the double doors, which revealed a bedroom... A bedroom with a large four poster bed covered in white lace.

My eyes widened...

"Korbin no!" I shrieked. "DON’T DO THIS!"

He didn’t listen. He grabbed me with both his arms and threw me onto the middle of the bed.

He slowly unbuttoned his shirt and slid his arms out of it as I lay there, staring up at him in horror.

"No... no... no, no, no, no..." I whispered, watching him throw his shirt across the room.

He climbed onto the bed, and began crawling on top of me...

"So..." He spoke softly. "Make me feel better." With a smirk and a flash of the eyes, he was all over me.

I tried pushing him off me with my hands, but he grabbed them both with one of his hands and pinned them above my head, clasping my hip with the other hand.

"NO! STOP KORBIN!"

On my lips...

"DON’T DO THIS!"

On my neck...

"I’M SORRY FOR WHATEVER I’VE DONE!"

On my shoulders...

"PLEASE DON’T DO ANYTHING TO ME, PLEASE!"

He didn’t wait long... His body weight slammed down onto mine and my inner core screeched as an excruciating lightning bolt fluxed through me.

In all my pain... In the echoes of my screaming... I saw him lose himself in me... Lose his mind... Lose his smirk... He lost it all... He lost his sense... He lost his confidence... And he lost me...

It all eventually blurred and my eyes glazed over... The pain became too much... Too much to handle... I couldn’t bear it... I lost myself too...

I blinked... Staring up into the pitch black prison cell. I could hear Sandra’s light snoring, and a few cell gates being shut or opened in the distance.

The memories of Korbin were so distant, yet so near... I sighed...

"Happy Birthday, Viola." I whispered. After which I rolled over and closed my eyes.
