The Wolf That Terrified Me - Part 5

"Oh, I’m Marciline, but you can Marcy for short. I’m Jack’s mother."
The next day, I got dressed to go out around noon. Natalie was going to spend the day in the room finishing up homework so I grabbed my laptop and said I was going out.

I drove to the house and was there in no time at all. There were people walking around carrying broken pieces of things I couldn’t make out but I knew they were taking care of last night’s mess. I walked up to the house with my laptop in hand. People who walked by me gave me smiles and hellos. The front door was open but I wasn’t sure if I should just walk in. I didn’t know where Jack or Mark were.

I continued thinking about what to do when a female voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Are you Katherine?" I looked up to find a beautiful woman who looked to be in her late 40s. She had a kind smile and the smile reached her eyes.

She moved towards me with her hand outstretched. I reached to shake it but instead I was pulled into a hug.
"It’s so nice to finally meet you. I have to apologize for my son’s behavior last night. He should really have more self control but looking at you now I can see why his wolf was going crazy without."

I pulled away slightly confused and embarrassed and she looked me over.
"Your son?"
"Oh, I’m Marciline, but you can Marcy for short. I’m Jack’s mother."
"Jacks mother?"
"He hasn’t told you anything about us has he."
"I’ve only seen him twice in the last two months. The first when I met him and the second was last night."

"I heard you will be coming around more. Does that mean you and my son are getting together?"
"No, I’m coming around as much as my schoolwork allows me to keep him from doing what he did last night. I don’t know about being together. In all honestly, he terrifies me."

"Ever since he took over as alpha, he has taken it very seriously but he is an amazing man. Although with you he shouldn’t be acting like the almighty alpha. But he does feel bad for last night. He felt so weak not being able to have calmed himself down. He really wanted to give you time since you weren’t raised like all of us."

"Yeah." She sensed my discomfort continuing on with the topic.
"Well make yourself at home. Jack is around here somewhere. He probably already knows you are here so he will come find you."
"Okay thank you."

She left me there standing in the hallway. I looked to my left and saw that it led to the kitchen. I made my way there and sat down at the counter. I opened up my laptop and began my search for an apartment. I didn’t want to live on campus anymore so I needed to find a place. As I was searching away, I didn’t hear that someone had walked in until they yelled behind me.
"KATHERINE!!" I nearly jumped out of my seat. I turned to find a smiling Mark.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
Acting like he didn’t just scare the crap out of me, he asked looking at my screen, "Whatcha doing?"

"If you must know, I’m looking for an apartment for next year."
"You should move in here with us. The alpha won’t mind and we have lots of extra rooms."
"Well I have enough for $500 a month. How much do you guys charge for rent?"
"You’re the Alphas mate and future luna, do you honestly think we would make you pay. Jack won’t take your money. Speaking of the devil, here he comes."
Jack walked into the kitchen looking for something and then his eyes fell on me. In them I could see sadness and happiness but there was a hint of anger.
"Jack, Katherine is looking for a place for next year. Would it be okay if she moved in here with us?" Mark looked at him with a hopeful expression but the alpha never looked at him. He was still looking at me when he answered.

"I don’t have a problem with it unless she doesn’t really want to move in and you are jumping to decisions for her."
I didn’t really know what to say. Well my wolf did. She was telling me that we could get to know our mate better. She wasn’t letting me think.
"Shut up!" I saw their shocked expressions.

"I’m sorry. That wasn’t meant for you. This voice in my head won’t let me think straight."
Mark looked at me. "I forgot about that. It’s all very simple to explain."
And he did explain while Jack looked at me. His gaze made me uncomfortable. Mark told me all about my wolf and how we had a connection that would allow me to use her strength and instincts if I were to ever need them.

At the end Mark asked me if I were going to move in.
"I guess but I would really like to pay. I don’t like not paying my way."

Then Jack, "You don’t have to pay anything, this is your home if you wish it to be. You are welcome to stay as long as you want." He didn’t say anything about being in a relationship with him and saw that he noticed that part he didn’t speak aloud. I figured it was time for me to leave.
I said goodbye to them I went back to my dorm.
