The Nights

He showed me the way.
The nights were long
Feeling like a year
The days seemed endless
Something I once use to fear.

The nights cried out
Calling to my soul
Reminding me of the life
I once use to know.

The time always seemed to blur
Like it was all the same
Just like if I walked by
Waiting for you to call my name.

I fell into this endless sleep
Somehow I didn't know
That the time that I found useless
You used it to grow.

You found yourself sitting on the steps
Of that great big set of stairs
Looking around in your heart
Reminding yourself somebody cares.

You showed me that the days get brighter
All I have to do is forget
Because in this big old world
There only is regret.
