What I Give Away

Being in a relationship does come at a cost.
What do I give away,
Every time we watch the sun rise and set,
Or I walk home, just before dawn flutters its eyes.

What do I get in return,
After lying in the comfort of your arms,
As we both whisper secret lover's charms.

A part of me will never return,
Belongs to the night sky and sunrise.

A part of me will never return,
Belongs to the secrets whispered in the dark.

What do I lose,
When I kiss your lips and take your breath away,
As we move in time to a rhythm we make.

What do I gain,
When all I do is long for your touch,
And I'm only satisfied when I'm given as much.

A part of me will never return,
Belongs to closed hands and open hearts.

A part of me will never return,
Belongs to what our nature yearns.
